A Lichfield-born diet and fitness coach has launched a dieting programme to help busy professionals lose weight and perform better at work.
Distance Dieters, which is delivered by telephone and e-mail, is a weight-loss and exercise plan for business executives and owners who want help to shed pounds.
Its founder, Anna Mason, says losing weight can help you work better in the office.
“If you’re fit, you’ll work more effectively and also have more confidence and verve in the workplace,” she said.
“Effectiveness and confidence are two of the ingredients that lead to people being promoted. Being seen to go the extra mile is also crucial – and you can do that more easily if you’re not carrying excess weight. You’re more likely to have a healthy mind if your body is healthy.”
Anna, who is now based near Stratford-upon-Avon, believes Distance Dieters is the only programme of its kind in the country.
She said the eight-week programme is about healthy eating rather than faddy dieting.
“It’s aimed at people who want to lose a few pounds to those who want to shed several stones by showing them how to choose foods that will give them energy and get them to their desired weight without feeling hungry.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a couch potato or a sporty person – the exercise element to the programmes can be tailored to everyone’s inclination and lifestyle.”
Anna came up with the idea of Distance Dieters after a colleague of her husband’s asked if she could coach him to lose weight even though he spent a lot of time away on business.
