Wolverhampton director David Ledsam of Screenburn Studios was declared winner of "best overall film" at Birmingham's 2005 FILMid festival.
His animated movie, entitled 'Little Angel', won both the animation category and overall festival trophy.
FILMid is the third festival of short films staged by UCE Birmingham's Technology Innovation Centre (TIC).
Over 100 entries were whittled down to the 36, shown over two nights at the Thinktank Theatre, next to TIC in central Birmingham's Millennium Point.
The winning film was described by Festival co-Director Stephen Gordon as 'cutting edge animation'.
It humorously charts the progress of a baby demon mistakenly and unsuccessfully educated in heaven who then tries to redeem himself on earth with disastrous consequences. Four further category winners also received awards.
