One of the Midlands' leading independent property companies has ended more than 50 years of history by moving to a new £5 million headquarters.
Deeley Group - a construction and development company - has created the new high-tech headquarters on the Coventry Business Park in Canley.
The 20,000 sq ft environmentally-friendly building is now home to about 100 staff working in the company's four divisions.
It is the first time the group, which was founded in 1936, has moved to a new headquarters since the 1960s and the two-storey building has been named George House after its founder. Peter Deeley, chairman of the group, said the new headquarters represented a considerable investment for the company.
"While we operate nationwide, we are very much a Coventry company and we were keen to remain at the heart of the city commercial activity," he said. "We had been in our last home for more than half a century but during that time the company had grown and evolved.
"We felt that the time was right to create a new headquarters which reflected more modern business practices and would allow us to take the business forward for the next 50 years."
The new building is located on the site for the former Triumph plant - much of which was built by the Deeley Group. The group includes several divisions including contracting, commercial development and home building.
It has been responsible for key projects across the area including the conversion of the former Courtaulds building on the Foleshill Road into the Tower Court business complex and the creation of Eliot Park in Nuneaton.
