The chance to be part of an abseil event in Birmingham is nearly up – with the clock ticking away until the deadline for entries on May 14.

Acorns Children’s Hospice is holding the event on May 20 during Children’s Hospice Week to raise awareness and funds for local children with life limiting and life threatening conditions. The superhero themed abseil promises a day of fun and thrills for all the family – and supports those families less fortunate.

Philippa Gay, major events officer at Acorns, said: “The abseil event is a great opportunity for people to do something out of the ordinary on their doorstep.

“Last year we had over 120 people dressed as superheroes gliding down the walls of Fort Dunlop – a wonderful day to be a part of. This year we are taking it to new heights with a 120ft abseil down House of Fraser, in the heart of Birmingham’s city centre.

“Some sign up to face fears, some come along with friends or family for a fun weekend, and dressing up is optional! The most important thing is taking part – this is what helps to change lives.”

Acorns relies on fundraising and donations for the majority of its income to provide vital care services, which it provides 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Care currently costs £750 per child per day.
