Midland staff from a global business advisory firm have received two awards for corporate social responsibility.
Employees at PwC were recognised at this year’s West Midlands Business in the Community Awards for Excellence.
The team from PricewaterhouseCooper won the Employee Volunteering Team of the Year category for an employability day at Birmingham’s Heartlands Academy, part of the firm’s ‘One Firm, One Day’ initiative.
More than 70 PwC staff led workshops on CV preparation and interview techniques for more than 120 students.
The firm was also acknowledged in the Kraft Foods Collaborative Action category for providing pro bono business mentoring to Rosie Ginday, the founder of food business Miss Macaroon, a social enterprise offering employment and training for young care leavers.
Mark Smith, regional chairman at PwC in the Midlands, said: “This kind of community involvement enriches our own organisation and we will continue to take time to make this happen.”
