The head of Trinity Mirror - the company which owns The Birmingham Post - will be the guest speaker at Birmingham Forward’s Keynote Lunch later this month.

Sly Bailey will reflect on the role of the modern regional press at the event, which is organised by the body that represents Birmingham’s professional community.

Ms Bailey will also talk about wider issues surrounding media consumption in the digital age.

The lunch, which is being sponsored by law firm Blakemores, will be held on June 24 at the International Convention Centre in the city centre.

It is the highpoint of Birmingham Forward’s calendar and represents the first time Ms Bailey has addressed members of the city’s professional services sector.

Ms Bailey’s portfolio also includes the Daily Mirror and an extensive range of other regional newspapers, including The Liverpool Echo, and The Post’s sister titles The Birmingham Mail and Sunday Mercury.

Following a successful career with a number of media groups including The Guardian, Ms Bailey became chief executive of Trinity Mirror in 2003. In addition she also holds non executive directorships at EMI and Littlewoods.

Tickets for this Keynote Lunch are priced at £40 plus VAT, or tables of ten can be purchased at a discounted rate of £350.00 plus VAT from Birmingham Forward. Register and pay online at http://www.birminghamforward.co.uk/events.cfm Or by email to Isabel@birminghamforward.co.uk
