A Midland communication specialist was behind a colourful event in China for the nine iconic fashion brands making up the Gucci Group.

Top Banana, based in Stourbridge, organised the conference, focusing on leadership in the business, for the international fashion group in Beijing.

Senior figures from Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Boucheron, Sergio Rossi, Bedat & Co, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Balenciaga sat down to a gala dinner in the Forbidden City in Beijing.

Entertainment was provided by traditional Chinese dancers and the Beijing Symphony Orchestra.

Delegates had a taste of the “new” China the following night with a visit to the chic Lan Club, designed by Philippe Starck.

Top Banana creative director, Richard Bridge said: “With Asia as the destination, we were asked to create an event that would immerse and engage the leaders of the group in this rapidly emerging market.”

“The dinner at the Forbidden City was without a doubt the highlight of the conference and enabled us to deliver the experience of ‘old’ China.

It is very rare that the Forbidden City is entirely hired out to one organisation, but with intricate planning and key contacts, I’m pleased to say, we pulled it off.”
