Marketing, PR and events specialist S&X has beaten off stiff competition from across the UK to pick up a CIPR President’s Grand Prix Award for Best Event.

S&X managed the global launch of the Speedo LZR RACER, the world’s fastest swimsuit, earlier this year. The suit was launched on four continents at 10.30am local time in 24 hours on February 12 2008, beginning with a launch in Sydney followed by Tokyo then London and finally New York. S&X employed hologram technology to re-create a life-size “time-travelling” Michael Phelps (above) at each launch. The most decorated Olympian of all time appeared in person, alongside his hologram, at the New York launch where a live webcast was streamed onto www.speedo.com.

The President’s Grand Prix Awards are judged by a panel of experienced CIPR professionals.

All of the Gold winners from the PRide Awards that took place in October this year, are pitched against one another in their respective award categories to vie for the prestigious award. S&X will be presented with their award at a champagne reception at CIPR HQ in London on 20th January 2009. To date the Speedo LZR RACER launch and S&X’s Olympic campaign for Speedo has resulted in over 2,000 pieces of coverage globally.

Celia Muir, Speedo’s worldwide head of marketing, sponsorship and PR, said: “2008 has been a fantastic year for Speedo. In an Olympic year we watched World Records tumble and athletes wearing the Speedo LZR RACER secure most gold medals.”
