Jewellery Quarter-based communications agency, S&X, has been appointed by dance theatre group Motionhouse to deliver a regional, national and international campaign to grow its profile.
The new partnership comes as Motionhouse prepares to launch The Voyage, a major outdoor spectacle developed in collaboration with producers, the Birmingham Hippodrome and Australian physical theatre specialists, Legs On The Wall. The performance is the West Midlands’ curtain raiser of the nationwide London 2012 Festival, and will take place in Birmingham’s Victoria Square between June 21-24.
Motionhouse was founded by Kevin Finnan and Louise Richards in 1988 and has built a reputation for performances rooted in dance and aerial acrobatics with elements of theatre, circus, and film, with productions showing at theatres and festivals throughout the world.
2012 is also an important year for S&X, with the agency working with sports brands Speedo and New Balance in the run up to the games, together with programmes on behalf of BMW and MINI Lifestyle and sports nutrition brand, Powerbar.
Louise Richards, executive director of Motionhouse said: “Since 1988, Motionhouse has grown into one of the UK’s most successful dance theatre companies, and the coming year offers a myriad of opportunity to amplify this success and to bring our work to new audiences globally. S&X’s background within the arts, together with its knowledge of working with international brands, is the perfect combination to help us take full advantage of this significant springboard, and realise our vision and ambition for the growth of Motionhouse.”
Paul Phedon, managing director of S&X, added: “We are delighted to announce our agreement with Motionhouse, an appointment which allows us to build on our previous achievements within the sector of arts and culture. Motionhouse is a company which is known for its captivating, exhilarating and poignant productions. Like S&X, it is also a company with local roots which makes an impact globally, and we’re looking forward to helping Motionhouse continue to build its audience and profile during 2012 and beyond.”
