Established designers and design students are being invited to submit entries for an international competition formulated by Birmingham agency S&X for a well-known Italian brand.

The competition “Create Tennis Art,” launched to celebrate Ellesse’s 50th anniversary in 2009, covers a range of categories including fashion and textiles, fine art, sculpture, street art, graphics and digital work with a first prize of €4,000 and an all-expenses trip to Italy.

In developing the competition concept for Ellesse, S&X collaborated with leading international partners including colleges and reputable artists and designers such as world-renowned illustrator Si Scott. He was commissioned to create a piece of work that celebrates the brand’s heritage and acts as the lead image to promote the call for entries.

The competition is the focus of an international PR campaign developed by S&X on behalf of Ellesse to be rolled out globally over the next few months and which will include an event in Perugia, the hometown of the brand, later this summer. Paul Phedon of S&X said: “We hope that local artists and designers will take up the call to enter the competition.

“We know how much creative talent resides here and it would be fantastic if there were a good show of entrants from the region.”
