Sue Maguire has struck out on her own after 15 years at Birmingham's Willoughby PR.

But she says the move was entirely amicable, it was a lifestyle change and she is still doing consultancy work for two Willoughby clients.

Ms Maguire was a director at the firm but has now established a new business, Milestone PR, based in Edgbaston. She says the change was down to a work/life balance decision - she has two children of nine and seven.

Ms Maguire says she remains in regular contact with Willoughby, and has picked up two clients of her own, Oswin Developments and the National Association of Women in Property.

She is currently looking to do no more than a three day week.

"It was a massive wrench when I made the decision - I decided the best thing to do was to move on.

"Now it is a case of onwards and upwards." Ms Maguire joined WPR not long after it was founded by owner Julia Willoughby, playing a major role in building the business.

She has now given up her shareholding.
