A Midland marketing agency has undergone a management restructure to allow its former CEO to take a more strategic view of the business.
Cogent Elliot’s current chief executive Tim Pile will become executive chairman to be replaced by Mike Phillipson, who joins from BIG Communications.
The company said that the change will free Mr Pile to concentrate on the strategic direction of the agency and devoting more time to clients.
He said: “We are now moving on to the next stage of our vision and as a consequence we need to make sure we can continue to focus on developing current client relationships and new business, whilst also driving into new markets and embracing new opportunities.
He added: “Basically, we’ve grown consistently year on year. We have welcomed 140 more people into the business since 2006.
“Five years ago we set out to build an outstanding integrated marketing agency that helps its clients build their businesses.
“This addition to our management team helps us on that journey.”
Mr Phillipson has held senior roles at a number of London agencies including Propaganda, Saatchi & Saatchi and JWT and worked client side on brands including First Direct.
He said: “It’s an exciting time for Cogent.
“The agency has a terrific heritage and with its continued investment in digital, planning and PR – to name a few – we’re in a strong position to offer our clients an enhanced and truly integrated service – which is backed up with creative excellence and a broad strategic understanding of clients’ businesses.
“It’s a privilege to be invited to join an outstanding agency that has ambitious plans and it’s fantastic that I will now be part of the next phase of growth.”
