The founders of design agency Stereographic have launched a new venture selling contemporary photography online.

Photographer George Benson and business partner Sam Underwood, who have run the company for 10 years, have called the new firm Yoyophoto.

Mr Benson said that from the firm’s base in Alvechurch, Yoyophoto will offer a “unique collection of photographs to provide a genuine alternative to the ubiquitous photography available through Habitat or Ikea”.

He added: “We aim to offer something genuinely different. Something for the discerning viewer that will look great on your wall but won’t break the bank.

“Something that will hopefully appreciate in value over time as the careers of the photographers whose work is included take off.

“We know people want something other than the run of the mill and we know it’s not always easy to find.

“We are helping to fill that gap in the market.”

The website features limited edition work by upcoming and emerging photographers, and is curated by a panel of photographers to ensure the quality and house-style is maintained.

The service will soon be opened up to offer further emerging photographers a platform to display and sell their work online.

Mr Underwood added: “We have high hopes for Yoyophoto as the work is highly distinctive and keenly priced.

“Our experience in design, branding and web interfaces has allowed us to present the work in a great light and provide a simple online shopping experience.”
