Birmingham-based Probrand – the company behind online IT procurement portal theitindex.co.uk – says it has started its new fiscal year with another stunning first quarter.

The reseller and technology services provider claims its performance has cemented its stance as a stable, growing player amid tough trading conditions where many businesses have seen a dramatic slowdown.

Having concluded 2007 with sales of £33-million, up 79 per cent year-on-year, Probrand set itself a hard act to follow. But the company says the first quarter of 2008 has yielded a turnover above £16-million, up 83 per cent on the same period the previous year. The business has grown nearly fourfold in as many years.

Probrand managing director Peter Robbins said: “We were before our time in bringing an innovative online IT procurement portal, theitindex.co.uk, to the market and many questioned our direction and motives.

“However, copying is perhaps the greatest form of flattery and with many companies now trying to emulate our success in this environment, it is rewarding to see that we keep on winning in public and private sector environments. “Likewise our scaleable solution continues to deliver for SMEs right through to large multi-site corporates. End users and decision makers want customer centric products and that is exactly what we offer, using technology to connect people and commerce.

“Our scaleable B2B portals will continue to meet large and small contract work, lowering transactional costs and adding value to the bottom line.

“Innovation and creativity have always been at the heart of our business and this will continue to keep us leading the pack. We stick by our mission to hit the £100 million barrier by 2010.”

Probrand’s IT e-procurement solution has achieved many wins from the biggest public sector contract of its type, the Catalist framework, to approval to work with the Cabinet Office on the Government Gateway Alliance Programme.
