The Midland PR community turned out in force to celebrate the winners of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Midlands PRide Awards 2008.
In a ceremony held in the University of Birmingham’s Great Hall, Birmingham-based Willoughby PR scooped the award for Outstanding PR.
The Outstanding Small Consultancy prize was won by BetterPR.
The judges said: “BetterPR impressed the judges with its partnership approach and overall ethos. The company aspires to practice what it preaches with environmental and community commitments.
“With a revenue growth of 40 per cent last year, betterpr presented a compelling case to be recognised as small consultancy of the year.”
The award for Outstanding In-house Public Relations Team Award went to Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust.
Victoria Crowe of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust added to the team’s awards when she won the Gold Award for Outstanding Young Communicator.
Chair of CIPR Midlands Melissa Page said: “To win a CIPR PRide Award is a tremendous achievement.
“This year’s winners really do have something to shout about, having faced the highest number of entries and stiffest competition ever.
“A CIPR PRide Award is a hallmark of professionalism and success, marking the best in our profession out from the crowd.”
The Midland PRide awards were the first in a series of 12 events taking place around the country.
