A Birmingham PR agency has made two new appointments to strengthen its team after winning several new clients.

Barques PR, based in the Jewellery Quarter, was launched by directors Paul Skipp and Jilly Cosgrove 10 months ago, operaring alongside sister company Barques Design which has has been running for more than two decades.

Laura Butler, senior account executive, has joined from a Leamington Spa-based agency to help manage the new company’s growing client base.

Since graduating from Wolverhampton University with a degree in journalism and editorial design, Ms Butler has worked at a communications agency, writing and editing publications for clients such as Empire Cinemas, New Look and NFU Mutual.

Lucy Willcock, a former magazine editor, also joins the company as head of client services. She has almost a decade of experience in the communications industry, across agency and in-house roles.

She has advised a wide range of blue chip clients including Severn Trent Water, Wilkinson, Lloyds Banking Group and the Welsh Assembly Government to name just a few.

Mr Skipp said: “Laura and Lucy bring a wealth of writing and client-facing experience to the team at Barques PR. Laura’s organisational skills are second to none and she has already impressed clients by introducing new processes that have improved the way we work.

“Lucy has invaluable experience of working alongside major clients on a wide range of projects and will lead our new business drive.“
