A Birmingham IT support company is buzzing after it headed for the United States to tell its success story to 10,000 Microsoft partners in Texas.
Netlink IT, based at Weoley Castle, has just achieved Microsoft certified partner status and was presented as a case study at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Houston.
The new status confirms Netlink IT’s development from being owner Richard Tubb’s sole trader business into a fully-fledged, expanding business.
Netlink IT’s success has been noticed by Microsoft at a global level, with its progression to certified partner status being presented at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Houston in front of Microsoft chief executive Steve Balmer and over 10,000 Microsoft partners from 145 countries.
Richard said: “It allows you to meet people who have been where you are in the development of your own business, those people who are experiencing the same challenges as you right now, and even those who ask you for advice as they are treading ground you’ve already experienced. I’ve found myself coming away from several of these meetings with great advice, almost literally buzzing about the possibilities of implementing suggestions when I return to the UK.
“We are incorporating these into Netlink IT’s ‘Worry-free IT’ service to clients in Birmingham and the surrounding areas.”
The 10,000 attendees of the conference made their way to the nearby Minute Maid Park, home to the Houston Astros Baseball Team, for the conference farewell party.
Richard, who has just moved to new, larger premises in Weoley Castle and has also just taken on new staff, added: “Certified Partner status confirms a high degree of competence and expertise with Microsoft technologies. In March 2006, Netlink IT became a Microsoft small business specialist partner – and the benefits of working with the community that surrounds the ‘blue badge’ from that certification have helped me to grow the company.”
Being a Microsoft certified partner will help the business grow further.
“Certified partners have access to licensing, training, to sales and marketing support from Microsoft. Our clients will also benefit from us having this closer working relationship with Microsoft.”
As well as support from Microsoft, Richard says he has been putting together a great team and working on his own personal development.
“I knew I needed to get out and meet customers and prospects, but I wanted to be able to use a sales approach that I felt would work for me,” he said.
“Steve Wright from Sandler Training, based in Sutton Coldfield, has provided me with that and I am now using techniques and methods that really work and that I believe in. I find myself able to develop networking opportunities and achieve sales results that I’d not believed myself capable of doing just a few months ago”.
So with the enthusiastic support of Microsoft, new members of the team Mick Davies and Kelly Piercy in place, ongoing sales training support from Steve Wright, and having now settled into their new premises, Richard Tubb and Netlink IT are perfectly placed for further success.
