The Midland film industry is set to receive a boost next week with the premiere of the critically-acclaimed independent movie Clubbed.

The film, which was shot on location in the Midlands, is set in the 80s and was inspired by BAFTA award-winning Coventry author and ex-bouncer Geoff Thompson’s autobiography Watch My Back.

The film, co-financed by Screen WM, will make its debut at an event managed by Birmingham-based events and PR firm Big Cat at Birmingham’s Cineworld cinema in Broad Street on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a new children’s fantasy film drama pilot SPOOKED! has its premiere tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Birmingham Library Theatre. All filming for SPOOKED! took place take place in and around the Midlands.

Locations included Aston Hall, a number of historic buildings in Wednesbury and Alderbrook School in Solihull.

Award-winning TV producer and director Tony Jopia teamed up with novelist and scriptwriter Steve Bishop to produce an action-packed comedy drama.

The film features original musical numbers and visual effects from designers who have worked on some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters, including the Harry Potter series, Cloverfield and The Chronicles of Narnia.
