Midland creative sector organisations joined a trade mission to the Middle East to meet companies from the worlds of radio, film, music production, publishing and illustration.

The visit to Syria was led by the Enterprise Europe Network West Midlands and delegates visited Damascus for a series of meetings over three days. Gary Robinson, managing director of Birmingham-based Kerrang Radio, one of the West Midland delegates, said: “The trip was not only very well-organised by our Chamber counterparts in Damascus, but was also culturally rich, extremely hospitable and a real insight into how an emerging economy is developing.

“I had the pleasure of meeting staff from Syria’s first private radio station and will hopefully welcome a party from Damascus to Kerrang in the near future.”
