Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is working with McCann PR to launch a new permanent exhibition in October, by recruiting living exhibits.
‘Birmingham: its people, its history’ will give visitors the opportunity to discover the broad history of Birmingham and people with interesting stories or links to the history of the city have been encouraged to apply to become The Birmingham Exhibitionists - temporary human artefacts.
The Birmingham Exhibitionists will be positioned on a podium at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery for a dedicated time slot, between October 12 and 18, becoming the key attraction, giving visitors to the museum the opportunity to ask them about their experiences of the city.
Ann Sumner, director of Birmingham Museums, said: “We have put a lot of the exhibition together in collaboration with the local community and that’s why we wanted to find Birmingham Exhibitionists. The selected people all have compelling stories to tell about their life or links with Birmingham, and will be sharing their experiences with our visitors.”
The PR campaign forms part of a wider communications campaign for the exhibition which will includes strategic marketing activities such as high profile outdoor media, press advertising and print distribution.
The campaign targets primarily local Birmingham audiences alongside day trippers to the city from the region and further afield.
