McCann Birmingham has netted a deal to provide advertising and marketing for Vauxhall’s FA sponsorship.

The car-maker took over as partner for The Football Association from Nationwide earlier this year, starting a three-and-a-half-year contract which will run until 2014.

McCann will help with a TV advertising campaign, starting this autumn, supporting the four home nations in the build-up to Euro 2010.

It will also work with the car firm on digital marketing as well as across its network of 500 dealerships.

McCann said the contract was the first significant win for its new executive creative director Vince McSweeney, who joined the agency from McCann Sydney earlier this year.

McCann Birmingham chief executive Dean Lovett said: “This is a landmark win for us and firmly places us in the UK agency premiership.

“Creative thinking had to be truly inspirational for such a high-profile campaign that would be seen by the eyes of the world.

“What’s more, it took an Aussie to help us see it,” Mr Lovett said.

This news comes months after McCann Birmingham won Vauxhall’s UK service, body shop and accessory contract and six months after landing its biggest ever win when  it was appointed to Vauxhall’s retail, brand and accessories business.
