Hagley-based marketing and communications agency Happy Giraffe has celebrated its sixth birthday.

The company has taken on two new members of staff in the last six months to cope with demand, growing its in-house team of marketing, PR and design experts to nine.

With the retention of existing clients and the securing of new contracts, the company’s turnover has grown by a further 60 per cent from £500,000 the previous year.

Founder and director of Happy Giraffe, Heidi Cooper said: “We’ve had a great year. But we have not been immune to the effects of the current economic downturn.

“Our clients come in all shapes and sizes and include several regional property developers.

“During 2008 some of these clients cut back on marketing spend, but we focused our attention on winning new business in other industries such as education and recruitment.”
