Software experts the Lanner Group aim to blaze a new trail with the next development of their hi-tech performance improvement software, thanks to support from regional development agency Advantage West Midlands.
Business simulation software packages produced by the Redditch group have transformed production processes at a range of major companies from Airbus, BP and the British Airports Authority to Bayer in the pharmaceutical sector. Lanner has been awarded a £145,000 grant by Advantage West Midlands to develop the next-generation browser-based simulation software package that does not require special skills to operate.
The product will make the Lanner systems accessible by a far wider customer base, including professionals outside the manufacturing supply chain.
David Jones, of the Lanner Group, said: “This is a highly competitive market but Lanner has always recognised the value of investing in innovation.
“The reward is a worldwide customer base of more than 3,000 top multi-national companies, with Lanner subsidiaries and partners in Europe, the Americas and the Far East.
“The new project will mean operations managers without expert IT knowledge or software systems support can access and benefit from our unique products.
“At the same time, the web-ready service will open up a client base of non-specialists, which will increase the value, use and accessibility of the system.
“Lanner is now acknowledged as a world leader in pioneering business simulation software and the grant from Advantage West Midlands is invaluable in helping us develop our vision for the next advanced level of programme platforms.”
Richard Clift, from the Access to Finance team at Advantage West Midlands, said: “Companies like Lanner, who are undertaking technically innovative development activity, recognise R&D as essential to their economic growth and we are delighted to support this project which will provide a significant advance in technology.”
