Midland PR agency Haslimann Taylor is celebrating becoming the official agency for Aston Villa Former Players Association (AVFPA).
The Birmingham-based company has been briefed to promote AVFPA’s charity and community work as well as highlight the promotional and commercial opportunities for third party business partnerships.
Ian Dutton will lead the management of the account, with the team led by company director Dan Clifford, utilising his experience of working with a Premiership football club.
Mr Clifford said: “We’re very excited about working alongside AVFPA – their work for charity and with former players in need has been under-publicised and we’re keen to get their message across.
“We also believe many businesses are unaware of the opportunities that exist for networking and client entertaining with AVFPA.
“It’s easy to envisage that ex-footballers are set up for life, but the reality is that the vast majority are not, and there are cases like Paul Birch – a fans’ favourite from the 80s, who is now courageously fighting bone cancer, leaving him unable to work and with a daughter to support. Therefore it’s heartening that the AVFPA exists to provide the help for those like Paul who require it.”
Haslimann Taylor’s appointment comes as AVFPA launches its first official membership scheme in the autumn, with the Aston Villa Old Stars football team entering its 50th anniversary season of fundraising matches in 2009.
