A Midland company was chosen to supply data links and telecommunications services for this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Solwise Telephony of Hinckley provided data and ADSL lines, among other services, to last month’s festival, which had more than 385 live performances and was attended by around 150,000 people.

The company supplies broadband services across the UK, and these were used by festival organisers and the BBC to link the festival with the outside world. It will also be providing these services at rock and pop festivals all over the country this summer.

He said: “We provide a unique range of services to businesses across the UK, and because we are happy to provide very short contract terms, our customers are not tied in for long periods.

“We provide good support and advice, and because we are both an internet service provider and have direct access to BT Wholesale services, we can often put together packages that precisely fulfil our customer’s needs.”

Solwise Telephony has also spent the last six years developing a unique telephone system that uses these high quality data lines instead of standard BT lines.

It already supplies some 600 clients including the BBC, banks, and recruitment agencies. Other recent events the company has been involved in include last month’s Chelsea Flower Show.

The company will also be providing broadband services and phone lines at the Reading Festival next month, the T in the Park festival in Scotland and the Latitude Festival in Suffolk later this month, the V Festivals at Weston Park, Staffordshire and Hylands Park, Chelmsford in August, and the Big Chill event at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire, also in August.

Solwise also supplies access to services such as telephone numbers from any part of the UK, voicemail, call conferencing and call recording.
