Four Birmingham women have been shortlisted for an Asian Women of Achievement award presented today.

The awards, were set up to identify Asian women making a significant contribution to British life.

The women shortlisted are: Birmingham-based Shaista Gohir MBE, director of the Muslim Women’s Network UK and Muslim Voice UK, (Social and Humanitarian Award); Kavita Jnagal and Rani Uppelle, founders of Birmingham-based Simply Recruitment (Entrepreneur of the Year Award); Film-maker Salma Zulfiqar, who has worked for the United Nations, APTN and BBC World Service (Media Professional of the Year Award).
