Former Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Suzie Branch has launched her own marketing firm, taking clients from former agency BHMG.

Ms Branch, who previously helped cofound BHMG, has set up Branch Martin Spicer Marketing with two former BHMG colleagues David Martin and Richard Spicer.

Her new firm has bought out the goodwill on the marketing services side of BHMG, meaning she has taken on the client relationships her previous firm built up.

BHMG chief executive Andrew Haddow said his company would now focus on its tourism activities, with clients including Heart of England and TripAdvisor.

Mr Martin will take on the role of client services director at BMS Marketing and Mr Spicer becomes creative director.

Ms Branch takes up the post of managing director, with the firm based in premises on Colmore Plaza.

Clients like Colmore Row Business District and Birmingham And District General Practitioner Emergency Room, a consortium of local doctors, have followed her to the new agency.

Ms Branch admitted it was still a difficult economic environment for a new agency, but added that Branch Martin Spicer Marketing’s small size would work in its favour.

“It’s going to be a really tough year full stop for any agency but we have got a loyal client base,” she said.

“What we’re noticing is there is work out there at the moment but clients want more value for their spend which is what we are hoping to provide now that we are smaller.

“They want more advice and consultancy within a smaller budget.”

Ms Branch was crowned Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) 2009 in an awards ceremony at the ICC while she was client services director at BHMG Marketing.
