Jewellery Quarter PR and digital agency Spottydog Communications has appointed a new chairman.
Michael Hobbs brings more than 30 years of experience in senior and leadership roles at high street retailers including Adams Childrenswear, Laura Ashley and Mountain Warehouse.
Following nine years as chief executive of Adams, Mr Hobbs has diversified his interests beyond retail to now include Appasionata, an international property business, and a portfolio of non-executive roles.
This appointment coincides with the recruitment of two additional team members, PR and social media executive Rachel Sharpe and graphic designer Sebastian Hobbs, together with the establishment of an in-house studio delivering graphic design and video content.
Additionally, Spottydog's client base has also been expanded following new client briefings from the Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District and Pedigree Wholesale while the agency has been shortlisted twice in the 2016 Chartered Institute of Public Relations Awards.
Founder and chief executive Rachel Roberts said: "This is a really exciting time for Spottydog and the continued growth of our team, operations, client base and capability means we have the strength and depth to help our clients create great stories and content to engage with their audiences.
"It has been a real coup to secure Michael as our chairman and his industry and corporate leadership experience, together with strong network here in the Midlands and beyond, will help Spottydog to continue to grow and develop as a business."
Mr Hobbs added: "The evolving digital landscape means it is a really interesting time to be working in digital marketing and communications.
"The proliferation of communications channels means it can be challenging and confusing for businesses and brands to understand the best route and the best partner to work with in order to engage with their target audience.
"As the market evolves, agencies operating in this space cannot stand still so I am thrilled to be working with the award-winning Spottydog team to help the business to continue to drive forward and grow."
