One of the busiest shopping streets in Birmingham came to an came to a standstill this week due to a flash mob of street dancing santas - all in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The dancing Santas emerged, dressed head to toe in red lycra morph suits and dancing to hip hop Christmas carols, were performing for a video that will be introduced by broadcaster Richard Bacon and released on YouTube on Monday December 12 with the name ‘Street Dance Santa Flashmob Interrupts News Report’.

Catherine Allen from Ember Television, the production company behind it, said: “Raising money for a charity through sponsorship of a viral video has so far proved a huge success. We see great future potential in online video playing this role, especially with ideas such as flashmobs, as usually they attract millions of views worldwide. With all profits going to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, this video epitomises what Christmas should mean: festivity, union and generosity”

The dancers are from EQHO, an award winning street dance group from Warwick University while Hollywood Monster and Winning Moves sponsored the video.
