A computer technology specialist is speaking at a conference in New Orleans this week about how Birmingham companies are emerging from the recession.

Richard Tubb, of Netlink IT, will be travelling to the US with recruitment client The Health and Safety Partnership, of Harborne, who have been a part of the latest Microsoft operating system, Windows 7, in its ‘Ignite’ launch programme.

They are being flown to the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference at Microsoft’s expense as a thank you for their participation in the Windows 7 Ignite launch.

Mr Tubb will sit on the conference’s panel, and has been invited to speak on “The Community within IT”, presenting a lecture exploring the collaboration between different companies.

He said: “We have been able to use The Windows 7 Ignite programme to improve efficiency at The Health and Safety Partnership, with faster start up, quicker information searches, and greater reliability.”

Windows 7 Professional is being launched by Microsoft to give small businesses a fast and reliable operating system designed to give them more from their computers.

Mr Tubb said Netlink IT was one of 60 companies working together with Microsoft worldwide to deliver the first examples of Windows 7.

Microsoft has stated that it plans to release Windows 7 to manufacturing starting the end of July 2009, and expects it to be available in shops from October.
