Presentation and communication specialist drpgroup has invested more than £500,000 on audio and visual technology over twelve months to maintain its position at the forefront of the industry.
The Worcestershire company bought a digital sound desk and a lighting controller, and has switched to LED lighting.
Managing director of drpevents, Adam Pardoe, says the new equipment freed up engineers, improved quality and made things run much more smoothly.
“We were noticing multi-disciplinary larger events emerging, with all-day conferences followed by live entertainment on the evening. The new technology allows us to keep up,” he added.
drpgroup was approached by Soundcraft to demo their Vi6 digital sound desk, which made its debut at Glastonbury, last June.
The desk, which has 90 channels in a desk the size of a 32-channel, allowed drp to pre-programme, store and recall shows, with a higher quality, fully digital output. The desk also uses fibre optics, which saves huge amounts of space taken up by cables.
Last year also saw drpgroup buy one of the first Avolites Pearl Expert lighting controllers to leave the production line, with one of the others going on tour with Paul Weller.
