A Coventry-based web company, which is proving a big hit with parents desperate to find activities for their children, has won another award from an industry body.
IdeasForTheKids.com allows parents in the UK to search for activities and days out for their children when they type their postcode or town into the site’s search facility.
Founder and director of the business, Manny Coulon, picked up the TravelMole Web Award at a ceremony organised by the leading travel industry body.
Now in their sixth year, the annual awards attracted over 300 nominations. More than 15,000 votes were cast, helping create a shortlist, before a judging panel of travel industry professionals decided on the winners.
This latest accolade follows two other prestige awards for the company, which has a Virtual Tenancy at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Business Innovation Centre in Binley, a BT Online Excellence Award and a HSBC Start-up Stars Award.
Manny said: “There is a great deal of talk about the British public staying in the UK this year and that is certainly a factor in the number of visitors we are getting.
“Last year, around 500,000 people visited and it looks like we will exceed one million users this year.
“IdeasForTheKids is ideal for families who are looking for days out near their home, but as we list over 11,000 child-friendly venues and attractions, the site also comes into its own when looking for activities in an area they don’t know so well.
“The fact that so many families are using the site and finding things to do is extremely satisfying, and of course it also generates more business for family-friendly venues and attractions around the country.”
Karen Aston, manager of the University of Warwick Science Park’s Business Innovation Centre in Binley, said: “This latest award is great news for Manny and IdeasForTheKids.”
