Midland digital SMEs could have the chance to share ideas and build business contacts by taking part in a “digital mission” to two of the US’s most influential new media events.

Digital media community Chinwag is working with UK Trade & Investment to organise trade missions to the Web 2.0 Expo in New York in September and the SXSW Interactive Festival in Austin, Texas in March next year.

The mission is open to a wide range of businesses in the digital sector, ranging from marketing agencies through to ecommerce operators, mobile service providers and startups.

Companies to take part in the mission will be selected by a judging panel of industry experts and commentators including TechCrunch UK editor Mike Butcher and Codeworks chief executive Herb Kim.

The New York mission, from 14-19 September, 2008, is for 25 UK companies while the March trip takes 40 UK companies to SXSW Interactive from 13-17 March 2009.

Both trips revolve around a busy conference itinerary mixed with high-profile networking events and individual meetings with potential investors.
