Creative England has enhanced its support for feature film production outside the M25 by issuing a fixed-term call for submissions to its Advantage Media Production Fund.

A total of £450,000 is being made available for investment into the production of feature films of all genres, including documentaries, from producers or co-producers based in the West Midlands.

The Advantage Media Production Fund (AMPF) was originally set up in 2007 by Screen West Midlands to support the development of Birmingham and its neighboring counties as a hub for filmmaking in the UK. Previous investments include Nativity, Soulboy, Tormented and Special People. Operational control of the AMPF was transferred to Creative England in late 2011.

One of the last remaining regional production funds, it is financed through a combination of European Regional Development Funding (ERDF), UK Government-sponsored regional development funding and recoupment from the earlier West Midlands Production Fund.

Chris Moll, Creative England’s head of talent, said: “Creative England is delighted to boost film production in the West Midlands through the AMPF. The success of previous films made through the fund demonstrate the tremendous quality and variety of talent in the region, and we hope that this new call will enable us to invest in some equally exciting projects.”
