A Coventry-based property company is gearing up for one of its busiest times of year as it helps international students settle in the city – with the help of a website relaunch.
Brother and sister Paul and Emma Deeley are partners in Universal Accommodation (UNAC) which is based in New Union Street in the city centre.
They set up the firm five years ago as a traditional lettings agency but spotted a niche in the market and now specialise in helping students at Coventry University and the University of Warwick find a home.
The firm has just re-launched its website at www.unac.co.uk, with the help of local IT specialists Acutec and Computime.
Its search-engine rankings on sites such as Google and Yahoo have now dramatically improved at an ideal time when international students are on the lookout for properties in the area. Paul said: “We have expanded over the past five years. We started out like any other residential lettings agency, but soon realised that the student market in the city was going to increase and thought we should become a specialist in that area.
“You only have to look at how much both of our fantastic universities are expanding and you can see that it will continue to grow.
“We currently place around 1,000 students a year in homes in the city in anything from three-bedroom homes to properties with eight to ten bedrooms.
“Students are using the web more and more to help them find a home, so it was important that we regularly updated our site.
“It’s not particularly complex. It is easy to navigate and has a clear, concise list of properties with details. That’s all our potential customers need. Thanks to Computime and Acutec, we have dramatically improved things like our Google rankings and that is very important to help students find us.
“That is especially true at this time when we are going into one of our busiest periods of the year, when international students start to look for a home in the city before they arrive for the new term.”
