SCH Distribution – part of privately owned Birmingham IT giant SCH – yesterday confirmed its £2 million acquisition of ISI from the Fayrewood group.

ISI, which employs some 140 people in Birmingham and Warrington, is the UK’s largest distributor of IBM and Lenovo products. It also distributes equipment from Sun Microsystems.

James Rigby, UK managing director of SCH Distribution, sees the acquisition as enhancing its range of services to resellers.

“ISI is an ideal distribution vehicle for us to extend our range of specialist products and services. It complements our leading volume product and service distributor brands ETC and Interchange.

“Long-term, strategic relationships with IBM, Lenovo and Sun are expanded, as are our best of breed vendor partnerships overall including Acer, Asus, VMware and Citrix. We can now offer our reseller customers an even better and more cost effective range of products and services combined with greater choice.”

Turning over some 1.5 billion euros and trading through ETC, Bestware and Interchange, SCH is a market leader in valued added distribution in the UK, France and The Netherlands. SCH will retain and build on ISI’s brand which will trade alongside ETC and Interchange in the UK. ISI will complement and enhance SCH distribution’s strategic vendor relationships and market positioning, specifically with IBM, Lenovo and Sun.
ISI managing director Keith Negal said: “SCH Distribution is a great home for ISI, and its customers.

“SCH enjoys a long and successful track record in distribution and will provide ISI with an ideal platform from which to extend and grow,” he said.
