A well known Birmingham face is quitting the city to take a new role in Dubai.

Dave Hodgson has resigned from his job as marketing director at Marketing Birmingham to take up a similar role for Falcon and Associates in the Gulf state.

Mr Hodgson, who was head-hunted for the role, leaves Marketing Birmingham on the cusp of a major overhaul of the organisation after it was agreed that it will ‘co-locate’ with Locate in Birmingham from next year, the organisation tasked with driving inward investment into the city. Marketing Birmingham’s remit is currently primarily attracting visitors to the city.

Neil Rami, Chief Executive of Marketing Birmingham, said:  "This is a fantastic opportunity for Dave and a testament to the work that he and the team have done here in recent years.  He has contributed greatly to our work of developing the region’s visitor economy and moves on with our best wishes."

Mr Hodgson said: "I have enjoyed immensely my time at Marketing Birmingham and feel we have made tremendous progress in recent years and put in place a sound strategy for the future.  Whilst I will miss Birmingham and my colleagues here this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I could not let go."
