Birmingham marketing and events agency, Big Cat Group, has picked up two national awards for its work on Jamaica Live, a community event at the heart of Birmingham City Centre.

Big Cat picked up the Community Engagement PR Campaign of the Year award at the Midlands, Wales and South Golden Hedgehog Awards ceremony and collected the Community Event of the Year award at the NOEA awards.

Both awards were won for Big Cat’s work on Jamaica Live, a 1-day Caribbean festival created on behalf of Punch Records which took place in Birmingham.

The event saw Big Cat transform Victoria Square in Birmingham into a Caribbean oasis featuring real Jamaican food, arts and crafts, storytelling, spoken word poetry and face painting and witnessed over 30,000 people enjoying the tropical climates of Birmingham whilst soaking up the authentic Caribbean atmosphere.

Nick Morgan, chief executive of Big Cat Group, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to bring home these two awards, which reflect the hard work and dedication that made Jamaica Live a success.

“Our Events and PR teams worked closely with the various stakeholders and organisers for a number of months, ensuring all opportunities were maximised and that exposure reached as far as possible.”
