Birmingham arts organisation sampad has launched a new programme giving emerging artists the chance to kickstart their career and turn creative ideas into reality.

Creative Leap is a collaborative project run in partnership by sampad, Ulfah Arts and the Drum and supported by Birmingham City Council.

It is aimed at local artists wanting to develop a career in the creative industries who can apply to Creative Leap for a grant of up to £2,000 to develop and showcase new work.

Successful applicants will have access to an experienced practitioner working in the same art-form who will act as a mentor to develop their creative work.

They will also be able to take part in a series of career and business development training seminars and workshops led by industry professionals and will receive one-to-one professional development mentoring, advice and support.

Creative Leap is about developing new artists, new collaborations and new ideas to create work in both traditional and unusual spaces.

It is open to artists working in any art-form including film and digital media, visual and performing arts, written and spoken word.

To apply, you need to be over 18 and living or working in the Erdington, Hodge Hill, Ladywood and Perry Barr wards. Email pat@sampad.org.uk.
