An Al Jazeera news presenter is the latest name to feature in a series of media-related lectures at Coventry University.

Television news presenters John Snow and Jeremy Paxman are among the others to have attended.

Stephen Cole, senior news anchor for the Al Jazeera English TV news channel based in London, is taking part in a Coventry Conversation – a speaking event open to students, staff and the general public.

For more than eighteen years, Mr Cole has fronted the world’s leading news channels including Sky News, CNN and BBC World.

John Mair, organiser of the Coventry Conversations series, said: “During his career, Stephen has reported on some of the most significant news stories including the Birmingham pub bombings in 1974, the Falklands War in 1982, two Gulf wars, the death and funeral of the Princess of Wales and 9/11.

“He is in great demand and we are fortunate to secure him for the Coventry Conversations.”

Over the last four years the Coventry Conversations events series has attracted a lot of attention for their high-quality speakers.

Attendees usually range from journalism undergraduates as well as students from all over the university, staff members, students from local schools and colleges and members of the public.
