A Black Country company specialising in 3D and 4D effects has received its biggest order to date – worth more than £800,000 – after a push on export sales.

Kingswinford firm Simworx, which makes 3D and 4D effects, theatres and simulation attractions for the entertainment and education industries, won the deal to make a 238-person theatre at Futuroscope, in France.

The deal is part of a wider push on international sales, including at some of the world’s leading theme parks in the UK, France, The Netherlands, South Africa, New Zealand and the US.

Terry Monkton, who founded the firm with Andy Roberts in 2005, said: ‘‘We’ve had market research from UK Trade & Investment on new markets such as Singapore and Pakistan which have helped hugely with our strategy for approaching these unfamiliar markets.

“We’ve also had invaluable advice on local business customs for example in Medellin, Columbia, where we recently signed a £300,000 order for a 4D theatre.”

Visitors to a Simworx 4D theatre may find their seats swaying and may be lightly sprayed with water; blown by wind or peppered with bubbles at appropriate times in the films.
