2Fold20 Play has launched its sing-a-long Facebook game ‘Enjoy! Karaoke’ which has enjoyed more than 10,000 players before it officially launched.

Taking inspiration from the numerous singing contests on prime time TV, once a player clicks onto the Enjoy! Karaoke application through Facebook and connects a microphone to their computer, they can start ‘Bootcamp’. By singing along to chart topping classics, such as ‘Rolling in the Deep’ or ‘Baby One More Time’, a score is given, based on the pitch of the vocal, as well as the timing of the delivery. The score can be shared with your Facebook friends. After the free trial expires, there are options to purchase additional credits to carry on playing.

The founders of 2Fold20 Play, which was the 50th tech start-up to be enrolled into Birmingham Science Park’s Entrepreneurs for the Future business incubation centre, have a wealth of experience working in the gaming, film, digital and animation sectors for leading global brands including Warner Bros, Impact BBDO, Disney, Philips, and Turner.

CEO Neill Watson said: “‘Enjoy! Karaoke’ enables players to sing along to their favourite tracks, view their scores, collect items, compete and have fun with friends through the multiple sharing features. It has out-performed all our expectations in the pre-launch stage and we are excited about the prospect of major growth.”

Simon Jenner, Head of Incubation at Birmingham Science Park, said: “Social gaming is a huge industry and Birmingham companies are developing some of the best new applications to hit the market.

“In the past three years, the concept of buying virtual items in return for an experience has become commonplace. Farmville’s incredible success is based on players spending a few pence for virtual corn seeds. Having attracted 80 million monthly active users on Facebook, it is clear to see why Farmville’s creators are considered ‘super super rich’.”
