A Birmingham property company has made a £3,000 donation to a charity which supports children and families during serious illness and bereavement.

CPBigwood presented a cheque to the Birmingham-based Edward’s Trust, one of the firm’s designated charities for 2012.

Edward’s Trust was chosen after the help given to CPBigwood property manager Kerry Shugar and her husband Warren following the death of their daughter Katie.

The charity was formed in 1989 by Peter Dent – a lecturer at the then Birmingham Polytechnic, now Birmingham City University – and his wife Hilary after their son Edward died aged just seven.

Mrs Shugar said: “Edward’s Trust offers comfort to those still coming to terms with the serious illness or loss of their child.

"They have been a great support to my husband and it is important we give something back.”
