Cadbury’s Bournville site is celebrating after receiving a Community Partnership Award from the Food and Drink Federation.

The team from Cadbury were presented with a silver award in the education category to recognise the impact of their World of Work programme.

The World of Work initiative was launched in 2007 to support young people studying for diplomas in manufacturing, engineering, leisure and tourism with real world work experience.

The scheme has been developed in partnership with Birmingham City Council and local schools, and Cadbury has committed to widening participation to the programme by involving other local businesses.

Over the past two years, Cadbury has supported more than 192 students across both its Birmingham and Sheffield sites, and delivers 12 World of Work programmes each year.

Andrew Peckston, manufacturing manager said: “Colleagues at Cadbury have seen first hand how the World of Work scheme has made a positive impact on the learning of young people, and we’ve been delighted to have the opportunity to work with Birmingham City Council to support local schools in this way.”
