Property and construction consultancy Wakemans is celebrating Christmas and the New Year with an unusual gift to clients that will preserve local woodland and benefit the environment.

Wakemans has dedicated a quarter of an acre of woodland in Wassell Wood, Trimpley, on behalf of all its clients, instead of sending a more traditional Christmas gift.

Wakemans managing director John Woodhall said: “The environment is a key issue for the construction and property industry. Whilst we have worked on a number of projects in recent years to deliver buildings that are environmentally friendly, incorporating sustainable materials and low energy installations, we wanted to have a more direct impact and thought that this was an ideal way of joining with our clients to help with the environment.

“Equally we are well aware of our environmental responsibilities and Wakemans as a business is evolving to incorporate wherever possible environmental measures within its projects.

“As a small gesture towards a greener future and to celebrate Christmas 2009 and the New Year we have made this donation to the Woodland Trust and dedicated a quarter acre of woodland. We hope to increase our contribution to the woodland and its positive impact over the coming years.”
