Property consultant Drivers Jonas has strengthened its planning team in Birmingham with a raft of internal promotions that has seen the appointment of one of the company’s youngest partners.
Mat Jones, aged 31, has been made the third planning partner at the company’s Cornwall Court office, while Matthew Williams has been made an associate and Hannah Attwood has been promoted to senior planner.
Mat Jones, from Aberystwyth, joined Drivers Jonas’ Birmingham office in 2001 after graduating from Cardiff University and said he is looking forward to rising to the new challenges presented by being made a partner.
He said: “The evolving nature of Birmingham has made it a fantastic city to learn my trade as a planner and Drivers Jonas’ involvement in many of the major regeneration projects in the city has played a key role in my own professional development while also building the company’s reputation within the city.”
Drivers Jonas offers a full range of property services from its Birmingham office with planning the largest discipline with 16 members of the team.
Matthew Williams, who started his career at Birmingham City Council before working as a regional planner for British Waterways, will be one of two associates in his department.
He said: “The planning team in Birmingham has experienced significant growth in recent years and this is a trend that is likely to continue, adding increased responsibility on the senior members of the team.
“I am looking forward to using my new role to help junior members of the team develop their skills and ensure they play a key part in maintaining Drivers Jonas’ standing within the region.”
Hannah, who joined Drivers Jonas from Taylor Young in 2006, has been working for Defence Estates and on employment land reviews and is looking forward to expanding her skill set following her promotion into disciplines such as urban design and masterplanning.
Gary Cardin, planning partner and head of the Birmingham office, said: “The Birmingham planning team is enjoying instructions across major regional and national projects and these promotions will further strengthen our service offer to our clients.
“The three promotions are also testament to each of their qualities and it is extremely heartening that at Drivers Jonas we are able to identify individuals for these kinds of senior roles without having to look beyond our own workforce.”
