Stoford has submitted plans for a new Premier Inn in Dudley.

The Birmingham developer has applied to build the Premier Inn hotel and restaurant with car parking at the Castlegate Business Park off the Birmingham Road on land owned by the Homes and Communities Agency.

Depending on planning permission being granted by Dudley Council, Stoford plans to start work on site this autumn with completion set for autumn 2013.

Approximately 25 new jobs will be created at the hotel on opening with further jobs to be created during the year-long construction phase for the project.

Matt Burgin, director of Stoford, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Premier Inn and the HCA in reaching the planning stage for this major development so quickly and after a lot of hard work from all the parties.”

He added: “Our plans reinforce our long-standing commitment to the Black Country that has seen us deliver a number of major schemes.

“This latest investment will likewise help to create new jobs, support local businesses and boost tourism.”

Anne-Marie Simpson, head of operations of the HCA, added: “This project will further improve the offer of Castlegate Business Park as a destination venue and also the wider regeneration of Dudley which we are supporting. “John Bates, head of acquisitions – UK and Ireland for Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, said: “Premier Inn is expanding aggressively across the UK as we keep up with strong demand for our high quality, affordable product and search out new exciting locations for our customers.

“Castlegate Business Park is an ideal location for a new Premier Inn in the Black Country, with great road access and plentiful restaurants and entertainment nearby for our customers. It really is a prime site and our deal with Stoford takes us one step closer to achieving our target of increasing the 47,000 Premier Inn bedrooms currently to 65,000 in 2016.

“I look forward to working collaboratively with Stoford and Dudley Council to achieve planning permission on the site, and investing to create jobs and attract new business to the town.”
