Construction group Shaylor is to lead the £16 million redevelopment of Cadbury's former head office.

The project will see the vacant Franklin House in Bournville turned into 79 one- and two-bedroom apartments including four penthouse suites with internal courtyards.

City centre development group Court Collaboration is behind the scheme which has been designed by Jewellery Quarter architecture practice BPN.

Aldrige-based Shaylor Group will carry out the refurbishment works to convert the 1960s commercial office space into apartments, worth £6.4 million of the overall budget.

The property will subsequently be re-branded as 'The Franklin' and is due to be completed by spring next year.

Chief executive Stephen Shaylor said: "Our team are very excited to begin work on this historic local landmark.

"BPN Architects have an excellent vision for the building and our highly skilled team are eager to get the transformation under way.

"We have significant experience in the housing sector and look forward to bringing 'The Franklin' to life."
