Building services company J S Wright has won three deals to carry out work in London which will net the firm almost £6 million.

The Aston-based engineering firm, which specialises in heating, ventilation and pipework, has agreed a £1.5 million contract with Galliford Try to provide all the services for 20-storey Elmgrove House, a £16 million eco-efficient housing scheme in Plumstead.

The company has also won a £3 million deal with Galliard Construction to provide mechanical services at a new 158-bed Premier Inn hotel in Greenwich and will earn £1.4 million to fit out houses in Islington as part of a deal with London developer Mount Anvil.

The Elmgrove House project, built for ASRA Greater London Housing Association, includes designing and installing a central boiler house with an energy saving biomass boiler to provide renewable energy for all 119 apartments in the scheme.

Elmgrove House has already been awarded ‘demonstration project’ status as an example of best practice by Construction Excellence, which monitors and improves performance in the construction industry.

J S Wright, which has won the Building Sustainable Design mechanical and electrical contractor of the year award for the past two years, will also be installing a boosted cold water system to serve the three-bed apartments and four-bed duplexes to allow low-pressure hot water services.

Managing director Marcus Aniol said he was pleased the company was making a mark on the regeneration of the capital.

He said: “We are delighted as a Birmingham-based company to have been appointed by some of the UK’s leading developers to be a prime mover in transforming rapidly developing areas of London into thriving balanced communities.”

Bradleigh Coker, project Manager for Galliford Try, said: “J S Wright were chosen to carry out the mechanical works as they have built up a good working relationship after completing similar schemes for us in the past.”

Under the Premier Inn deal, J S Wright will design and install heat exchangers and substations, as well as plumbing 226 privately owned apartments within six blocks, all of which have been pre-sold.

Work on the scheme begins on site next month, and is expected to be completed by October 2010.

The Mount Anvil deal will se the company fit out a new £45-million scheme of houses and apartments.

In the past J S Wright has completed more than 20 major housing projects for Mount Anvil.

The company will be plumbing all the apartments and equipping the remaining homes with self-contained gas-fired boilers in readiness for an Autumn 2009 launch.

Peter Burslem, operations director for Mount Anvil, said the deal was an extension to a long-term relationship with J S Wright.

Mr Burslem added: “We chose J S Wright because of the long and successful working relationship we have enjoyed and the consistently outstanding quality of their design and installation work.”
