Building consultancy Powell Williams has completed a £100,000 revamp of the reception area in the award-winning Eleven Brindleyplace building.

The firm, whose Midlands office is based in Kings Norton, was appointed by Cube Real Estate on behalf of Benson Elliot which acquired the property from Argent earlier this year.

The double height reception has been reworked with a new lighting scheme, new wall linings, seating, carpet, signboards and general signage.

Cube Real Estate said the move was part of its plan to fill the remaining 48,000 sq ft of office space.

Powell Williams also advised on the recent acquisition of the property providing due diligence advice and the building survey.

Eleven Brindleyplace was named 'Best of the Best National Commercial Workplace' by the British Council for Offices in 2010.

David Heatherington, Powell Williams’ Birmingham partner who led the project, said: "The office space itself is excellent but there were aspects of the common areas where improvements could be made to help the building achieve its potential.

"There was, for example, a brief trend for reception areas to feature dimmed lighting and darkened interiors.

"Unfortunately, that isn't practical when the main aim is to help visitors find their way to their destination. People passing through the reception at Eleven Brindleyplace enter a dark and cavernous space which can be intimidating and where finding their way can be difficult.

"This project creates a much brighter space, easier to navigate and therefore more welcoming for staff and visitors alike."

The scheme has been designed by 5Plus Architects and Hoare Lee Lighting and delivered by contractor FBI Interiors.
